Moutai – a luxury drink in China, a multi-billion dollar brand, and now a Solana meme-coin to challenge all meme-coins. This legendary beverage has established itself as a serious community in the Solana meme-coin race, producing incredible content around the world. Dubai, Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore, the U.K. and the U.S…. Major players such as Moutai Man, Chad Gold, Bobby Apelrod, E.C., Rachel Yuan, Dangergod and Ariel, JB, FUEGOmonk, and many others, work tirelessly to promote the burgeoning coin as it’s popularity rises and it brings together the best of East and West.
So where did Moutai start? Its creator remains a mystery, however its creation on Jan 18th 2024 is attributed to Bobby Apelrod, who called for a Moutai coin on X a number of months ago. A staunch supporter from the beginning, Bobby has firmly expressed his conviction in the coin, regularly posting about it on X, and acting as one of the admins of the Flying Fairy Moutai Clan – a group of individuals holding at least 330,000 Moutai each, dedicated to the promotion of Moutai culture around the world. It’s members have made wicked Moutai merch, including custom shirts, sweaters, hats, Moutai drinking glasses, stickers, and golf clubs.
Moutai characters are quickly building content legacies that will be hard to follow for other coins – from Chad Gold stunning all with his wit and poise, to JB smashing the largest shot of 53% liquor likely ever drank, Dangergod and Ariel pumping out daily videos with incredible consistency and taste, to Moutai Man making his global rounds sharing the joy of Moutai with the uninformed. All holders purchased their Moutai on the open market, aside from 1% of supply which was airdropped to Bobby Apelrod at the coin’s inception. Moutai has not engaged in a paid promotion campaign with outside influencers, all content being created by community members and enthusiast. There is no team supply.
The Moutai coin even has a its own venture capital studio built inside the community coin, the MoutaiFund, which requires a minimum lockup of 6,900,000 Moutai to be a part of. This elite group of holders has locked up at least 30% of the supply of Moutai, preventing it from being dumped on the heads of holders by the original team (who holds 0%), a whale or an early sniper. This voluntarily created community “private equity fund” within the Moutai coin is solving the problem of meme coin teams being incentivized to dump on their holders by locking up a large portion of the coin through Squads Protocol. The locked supply is applied towards initiatives that provide distributions to the Limited Partners of MoutaiFund, encouraging them to remain locked, and towards the MoutaiDAO which uses the funds to promote marketing initiatives. This process delivers value to all Moutai holders, large and small, in a trustless manner.
Just the other day, Dangergod crashed his car, and his GF Ariel’s car broke down. Key Moutai community member FUEGOmonk and his friends in LA decided to hook the content creators up with a gently used Moutai civic! Acts of generosity and kindness like this define the Moutai community.
Where is Moutai going? Who knows, but as a member of the Flying Fairy Moutai Clan I can say there are few other coins out there I’ve seen with people of the same passion and expertise pushing memes forward on the Solana blockchain.
